Weddings

Wedding Ceremonies are significant and dignified occasions celebrating the joy and commitment of two people. I look to highlight the happy emotions shared by the bride and groom. To achieve this I provide you with:

• All the legal requirements and time lines. I mail all legal documents to government authorities after your wedding.
• A warm welcome to my home where I give your legal forms with explanation.
• A planning booklet to help you organise your day and ceremony.
• Sample ceremonies.
• A range of readings (across the cultures) to include in your ceremony.
• A booklet to help you construct your own weddings vows (standard evergreens provided).
• A booklet to help you select music that celebrates your love and the joy of the occasion.
• An opportunity to show you the personalised calligraphy on your Certificate of Marriage
• Advice papers from the Commonwealth Government and counselling agencies.
• Ideas to help the groom with his response to the toast “To The Bride and Groom”.

Legal Documents You Will Require

A COMPLETED NOTICE OF INTENDED MARRIAGE FORM
To be lodged with me, signed and witnessed, one month and a day in advance of your wedding date. Repeat: it must be in my hand a month and a day before your wedding date. You can send it up to eighteen months in advance if you wish. You can obtain a form from me or download from The Attorney General Department. See contact on Links Page

BIRTH CERTIFICATES
Bring the originals with you when you present to me The Notice Of Intended Marriage Form. I have to sight these and record their numbers on the Notice Of Intended Marriage Form.

PASSPORTS
Australian citizens are required (this is law) to show an original birth certificate. Australian Passports are not acceptable for evidence of birth. People born overseas with a foreign passport with English translations clearly shown may present a passport as evidence of birth. Overseas birth certificates (with certified English translations) are acceptable too.

IF APPLICABLE: Bring evidence of finalised dissolution (decree absolute) of previous marriage, or death certificate of previous partner.

REMINDER: Australian law requires me to actually sight legal documentation such as birth certificates, decree absolutes, death certificates, etc. If applicable, certified English translations are required. No proper documentation... then no wedding.
